Here’s where to watch the Union take on LAFC in Saturday’s MLS Cup final

Of course, the Phillies are playing a crucial World Series Game 6 tonight, the Flyers are in action against Ottawa and there’s a barrage of local teams getting their start in college football.

But for thousands of people in the Philadelphia area, this Saturday is all about football.

Courtesies go out to Union, who will play in an MLS Cup final for the first time in the club’s history representing Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference – as the No.1 seed.

The adversary? The No. 1 seed in the MLS Western Conference at Los Angeles FC (4 p.m., Fox 29).

So what does this mean for you? That means picking your spot from a slew of watch parties scheduled to celebrate the Union’s unprecedented race. From an official watch party at Subaru Park to those well-known pubs, brasseries and restaurants offering a host of promotions, giveaways and more, here’s a sampling of where you’ll find a bunch of fans like you at listening to the championship game.

Subaru Park, Chester, Pennsylvania.

Hosted on the vacant Union lot, this could be the Mecca of Union watch parties. Best of all, access is free, as is parking, and the Syndicate will have “free loot” at their fingertips. However, you will need to register and receive a virtual ticket to guarantee your place. Lots B, C and G parking lots at Subaru Park open at 3 p.m.

Additionally, select concessions and the team store in Union Stadium will be open. The party is one of four the Union claims as official watch party sites, with events also planned at the following locations:

  • Xfinity Live!, 1100 Pattison Ave.

  • PJ Whelihan’s Downingtown, 853 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, Pennsylvania.

  • Chickies and Pete’s Malvern, 10 Liberty Blvd., Suite 190, Malvern, PA.

Kensington Soccer Club, the program which began the same year as the Union’s first season to help children through football in an underserved community, invites you to gather with them at the Kensington Pub. It’s going to be a gorgeous day and there are plenty of tables outside to bring the noise.

The intimate bar area will be great for watching the game for those who don’t want to be crushed by massive crowds. It will also offer signature American cocktails and drinks for just $4.
