LIST | Sunday vehicle restrictions on New Jersey roads ahead of freezing rain; motorists urged to avoid unnecessary trips

NEW JERSEY (WABC) – Vehicle restrictions that were put in place on New Jersey roads ahead of expected freezing rain on Sunday morning have been lifted.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation lifted the restriction on the movement of commercial vehicles at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel.

The restrictions included the following highways in both directions:

I-78, full length of the Pennsylvania border to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike)

I-80, running the length of the Pennsylvania border to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike)

I-280, full length from I-80 to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike)

I-287, the entire length of NJ Route 440 at the New York State border

NJ Route 440, from Outerbridge Crossing to I-287

The commercial vehicle movement restriction applies to:

All semi-trailers (exceptions listed in the administrative decree)

Empty CDL weighted upright trucks

Passenger vehicles pulling trailers

Recreational vehicles

This restriction DOES NOT APPLY to:

New Jersey Highway

The Garden State Walk

Atlantic City Freeway
