The Paden City Wildcats held a touching ceremony Friday night at Berger Field on October 22, 2021 ahead of their clash with the Bridgeport Bulldogs. In the presence of friends, family, teammates, coaches and fans, Laser Logan Fluharty’s number 78 jersey retired from the Wildcats. Logan recently lost his battle with leukemia and was a Wildcat football player who really loved his green and white. Coach Robert Price and senior Gavin Lewis presented the Logan family jersey at the special ceremony ahead of the game.
Once the game started, the Wildcats fell short of the visiting Bulldogs as the visitors rushed to a 38-0 halftime lead, while also leading a 50-8 win. . The overwhelmed cats had no answer for the Bulldogs.
However, the Cats enjoyed another great night from running back Joey Baker as he snatched 159 yards and one touchdown on 31 carries, he also returned four kickoffs for 43 yards in the losing effort. In the passing department, rookie QB Kayden Myers was 5-9 for 105 yards, the longest completion covering 44 yards. He also had 37 rushing yards on 10 carries. Sophomore William Christensen was the Wildcats’ top receiver as he caught three catches for 59 yards. Sophomore Ashton Little had two catches for 36 yards. In defense, senior Gavin Lewis had seven solo tackles and three assists. Baker added five tackles, one assist and one pass deflection. Myers came up with the Cats’ only interception of the game. Senior Jasup Spragg added four solo tackles.
Coach Robert Price’s Cats drop to 2-6 this season and travel to Webster County to face the winless Highlanders on Friday night, Oct. 29.
