Red Kite Ride & Bike Club issues commemorative NFT jersey

September 1, 2022

Digital keepsake enables future benefits and deeper engagement for sponsors and attendees

/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE / – Red Kite Ride, a UK charity race benefiting several charities, has teamed up with Bike Club to issue the first ever NFT jersey as a participation reward.

“We are thrilled to give each participant a timeless digital collectible as a memento of our race this year,” said Kylie Grant, Event Manager. “It will give them a unique way to show their support for our community, and unlike socks or a buff, it will allow us to offer more and new benefits to participants over time”

The jersey artwork was designed by world renowned cycling artist Richard Mitchelson (aka “Rich Mitch”), the artist behind the Bike Club’s WEB3 cycling project.

“The jersey will stand on its own as a digital collectible, of course,” says Mitchelson. “Best of all, holders will be able to dress their Bike Club rider avatar in it to create a personalized digital version of themselves!”

Red Kite Ride is the first of many brands and events to create a digital layer for the next edition of the Bike Club. Bike Club co-founder Tyler Benedict says there’s plenty more on board and many more announcements to come.

“That’s just one use case we’re bringing to the cycling industry,” says Benedict. “A digital collectible combined with our make-it-yourself avatar program allows every cyclist in the world to create a ‘cyclist’ just like them, then decorate them with jerseys, backgrounds, helmets and many more of his favorite brands, events, sportsmen and artists!

“Events like Red Kite Ride can leverage this new connection with its participants to extend the benefits of participation and create new opportunities for their sponsors and supporters as well.”

Red Kite Ride takes place on Sunday, September 4, 2022. As part of this partnership, Bike Club has shared discounted entry codes with its Discord community, which is free and open to everyone.
