The City Edition uniforms were revealed earlier this week and there has been a lot of talk on social media about the NBA’s 75th anniversary jerseys. So we put it to a vote, asking fans if they liked this latest Pelicans uniform. The overwhelming response has been positive.
As for the thoughts behind this design, according to Pelicans PR:
No city knows how to bounce back like New Orleans – and that’s what their basketball teams have been doing all along. This franchise has always transformed for the future with the resilience, dynamism and soul of the city it inhabits.
This year’s Nike NBA City Edition uniform honors that tradition, celebrating the dawn of a new era of basketball in New Orleans – featuring white jerseys with typography reminiscent of wrought iron, depicting a canvas on which the team will write the next chapter in its story.
It also sports red, gold and navy stripes, as well as the signature ‘NOLA’ emblem, iconic fleur-de-lis on the gold Mardi Gras belt buckle and an anthem that defines this team as much as it defines the city. that she calls home: “I will not bow down.” The wordmark is representative of a flight formation, showing other teams in the league that the Pelicans are ready to take flight.
The City Edition jerseys are set to debut on Christmas Day.
The other question posed to fans this week was, “As Zion Williamson’s return schedule remains a mystery, is the 2021-22 Pelicans season already over?” It should come as no surprise that after starting 1-6 at the time, 73% responded negatively.
Pray that the team will soon achieve some victories. Otherwise, it’ll be hard to fault all the fans for wanting to quit the season so comically early.
