Softball wraps up regular season with DH Split in New Jersey City

CUNYAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION AND COVID PROTOCOLS

The softball team ended its regular season strong Tuesday after sharing a non-conference doubleheader at New Jersey City University.

The visiting Bearcats lost the first game 3-2, but came back to win the second 6-2.

The Bearcats will then begin play in the CUNYAC Double-Elimination Championship Tournament at Brooklyn College on Friday at 1:15 p.m. against John Jay.

STRONG POINTS

GAME 1

* The Bearcats scored twice in the first inning on an RBI double by Carly Quint and RBI brought down by Brigitte Campanelli.

* The RBI by Quint was his 59th of the season, which currently leads NCAA Division III.

* The hosts Gothic Knights were held scoreless in the first four innings but scored their first run in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to rally for the home win.

* Julia Cutton was leading at home plate with a 2-for-3 strike with a run scored.

* Quint and Jessica Davis each had a double.

GAME 2

* The Bearcats took control in Game 2 by leading 4-1 in the fifth inning en route to a 6-2 win.

* Megan Bell, Jordyn Schwartzand Cuttone (2 RBI) each had two hits.

*Schwartz for the fifth time this season scored three points in a game. Bell scored twice.
